In the next Congress of the Spanish Society of Oral Surgery, which is celebrated next November in Salamanca, the Dr. Iñaki Cercadillo, Director of the Ahoa Dental Clinic, will present the preliminary conclusions of an immediate loading study, together with the Oral Surgery team of the University of Barcelona.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term results in treatment success and satisfaction of patients treated by immediate loading of a complete maxilla.
This treatment has multiple advantages for patients: the number of surgeries and the total treatment time are reduced, and above all they can enjoy their teeth from the first day of treatment, without having to wait months to be able to eat and smile satisfactorily. The quality of life of patients who choose this type of treatment clearly improves compared to classic protocols, as indicated by many recent studies. The intention of the study carried out is to confirm this differentiating fact and to verify that the results achieved continue to be satisfactory even after ten years of carrying out the treatment.
Another of the lines of research in which Dr. Cercadillo works is guided surgery. Next October, at the congress Nobel Biocare Symposium 2014 which is celebrated in San Sebastian, will present the first results obtained with a new protocol in guided surgery which has been developing since 2006, when the first cases were carried out.
Although this is the most recent research, Dr. Cercadillo has been combining professional practice with research for more than ten years, especially in the areas of la Immediate loading dental implantology and guided surgery.
As a result of his investigative work, the Ahoa Dental Clinic has been appointed recently associated research center to the University Dental Hospital of Bellvitge (CEIC-HOU) by the Generalitat de Catalunya. This new position allows him to present the results of his treatments in clinical research within the framework of the Oral Surgical Pathology group of the School of Dentistry.
Now, with Dr. Iñaki Cercadillo at the helm, he also contributes with his research in the private sector, since he has been collaborating with the company for more than five years Ball Head System in the diagnosis, design and manufacture of personalized prostheses, with the development of new treatments. To date, they have registered three European patents and have launched a catalog with fourteen products, highlighting the BHS-30 angle screw. Dr. Cercadillo has presented this product at numerous congresses of scientific societies, such as the Spanish Society of Stomatological Prosthetics or the International Association for Dental Research.
