“The Ahoa dental clinic has recently incorporated a pioneering system that effectively improves healing and tissue regeneration. This is the Platelet and Leukocyte Rich Plasma (LR-PRP), an innovative technique based on proteins obtained from the patient’s own blood. “This system makes it possible to accelerate and improve the healing of our wounds, surgical or otherwise, by increasing the supply of growth factors where they are needed,” explains Ahoa’s oral surgery and implantology expert Iñaki Cercadillo.”

“Dental implantology, and specifically immediate load implantology, revolutionizes the lives of many people every day. In short, this procedure allows the patient to recover the health and functionality of his or her mouth in a period of time that was unthinkable a few years ago, with minimally invasive surgery and practically no discomfort.

But this discipline has not yet reached the end of the road. During the 25th European Implantology of the scientific association EAO (European Association of Osseointegration), held in Paris last October, Dr. Cercadillo and Dr. Sanchez, from the Surgery team of the Ahoa Clinic, presented a study conducted at the University of Barcelona with even more encouraging data.”

“Caries is such a common problem for most people that few see it for what it is: a disease that affects our health, and not just a black hole that hurts. According to data from the Council of Dentists, tooth decay affects between 92% and 94% of adults 35 years of age and older….”.

“Periodontal problems, such as gingivitis or pyorrhea, are very common among the adult population. In fact, in Catalonia alone, 1.1 million adults have periodontal diseases, one of the most prevalent types of diseases in humans.

From bleeding gums when eating or brushing our teeth to the loss of teeth, the consequences of periodontal disease go beyond esthetics and even oral health in general. For example, they have been shown to have a negative effect on cardiovascular disease or pregnancy.

But classical treatment may not always be 100% effective. The use of antibiotics to combat the pathogenic bacteria that cause periodontal diseases alters the entire flora of the mouth, and does not always have the expected result.

That is why the most advanced treatments combine the use of antibiotics as a shock treatment with probiotics, which are applied for a certain period of time or as maintenance on a regular basis. The latter helps to control periodontal diseases also in the medium and long term.”
